Northfield is a town in Washington County, Vermont, in the United States. It lies in a valley within the Green Mountains, and has been the home of the nation’s oldest military college, Norwich University, since 1866. The town contains the village of Northfield, where over half of its population lives.Northfield is an easy ten-mile drive from Montpelier, the State’s Capital, and three hours from either Boston or Montreal. As such, Northfield offers easy access to both idyllic rural and culturally diverse, cosmopolitan settings. Northfield is also home to the most¬† covered bridges in Central Vermont, with four covered bridges, two of which can be seen simultaneously from a specific view point.
